About This Place

Nestled on the scenic Welshpool Road at Churncote Farm in Bicton Heath, Shrewsbury, The Cote Kitchen is a delightful breakfast restaurant that serves up a delicious slice of British culinary tradition with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. This charming eatery has quickly become a favorite stop for locals and travelers alike, especially those journeying towards the Welsh coast who crave hearty, well-prepared meals that feel like a home-cooked embrace.

The Cote Kitchen’s menu is a celebration of classic British flavors perfected with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. You simply cannot miss their Full English Breakfast, which comes highly recommended for its generous portions and perfectly cooked components—from crispy bacon and succulent sausages to buttery mushrooms and satisfying eggs. Regular visitors praise the meal as utterly fulfilling, a real comfort-food experience that powers you through the day.

Sunday at The Cote Kitchen is extra special with their standout Sunday Roast Beef—a mouthwatering, tender roast that melts in your mouth, served alongside fluffy Yorkshire puddings and rich, savory gravy. As James Washer shared, the roast is “fantastic... very tasty and butter soft,” emphasizing the care and quality that goes into every dish. This is traditional British fare at its finest, satisfying both the eyes and taste buds.

If you’re in the mood for lighter yet equally tempting options, their Open Prawn Sandwich Platter and Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Egg provide fresh, flavorful choices with a memorable twist. The Avocado Toast and homemade Soup of the Day also showcase the kitchen's knack for balancing nourishment and taste, making it easy to find something to suit every palate and appetite.

Complementing their food is an extensive range of hot beverages—from the smooth richness of their lattes and cappuccinos to comforting classic teas like Earl Grey and Peppermint. For those seeking something a bit different, their luxury hot chocolate stick is a decadent treat, perfect after a cool morning stroll around nearby countryside. And if you fancy something cold, select from local artisan ales and refreshing ciders, including Welsh favorites like Gwynt T Ddraig.

The dining atmosphere at The Cote Kitchen is vibrant and cheerful, often buzzing with lively conversation as locals and visitors come together over fantastic food and drink. While it can get a bit busy, particularly at breakfast and lunch hours, the staff’s efficient, friendly service quickly makes you feel right at home. Dave Braund’s review echoes this sentiment, noting the "efficient staff" and the pleasant lively vibe, although the buzz can sometimes be a little loud for quiet chats.

Beyond the food, The Cote Kitchen is part of the enchanting Churncote Farm, which includes a farm shop offering fresh, local produce and artisanal goods—giving guests the perfect opportunity to take a piece of their experience home. Whether you’re just popping in for a quick coffee and homemade Victoria Sponge Cake, like Martin Lynch did, or settling in for the full dining experience, this spot effortlessly combines the best of rustic charm with culinary delight.

For anyone seeking a memorable breakfast or a satisfying Sunday roast in Shrewsbury, The Cote Kitchen is a genuine treasure. With its honest flavors, charming setting, and welcoming spirit, it’s more than just a meal—it’s a heartwarming pause filled with delicious traditions and friendly faces.

A great cafe with a wonderful farm shop. We stop here every time on our way to the Welsh coast and the food is always just what we need. Today, it was a Sunday, and so their Sunday Roast was on the specials. £12.95 for a huge locally sourced roast with multiple choices! The beef, that I had was fantastic. Very tasty and butter soft! The Yorkshire was light and fluffy and topped off a brilliant meal. The sandwiches, which we have had on many occasions are always great and come with chips that are always crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Well worth stopping off at, or even a detour!

Good, quickly served, breakfast. Efficient staff. At 11:00 it was full of breakfasters and there was a buzz of conversation, but a bit loud overall inhibiting the conversation on our own table. 8 Sept: visited for lunch. Prompt friendly service, good food. It was full and lively.

On route to Wales, popped in here for breakfast, it's extremely popular so be prepared to wait. Staff were on the ball so wasn't long before being seated. Went for traditional English breakfast and ate every scrap. Reasonable price and nice surroundings.

Only popped in here for a quick snack but was super impressed with the quality. Had a coffee, chips and carrot cake and it was all excellent. Didn't get a chance to have a proper look at the farm shop but would definitely return to try more of the menu and explore the shop a bit more.

Very nice place to stop at on the way to Wales. The prices are maybe a little high and the peri chicken we had didn't have any spice to it. But it's was fresh and still tasty enough.

Nice friendly cafe to stop at en route to other places. Big carpark and clean facilities. Had a hearty breakfast and nice cuppa. Looks like it may get busy at peak times so might be worth booking. Also sell sheep furs/skins for about £70 which is a nice if you want a souvenir to take home.

What a warm and lovely welcome from all member of staff. Food was really good and served very quickly. Next door, there is a farm shop selling meat, vegetables etc from the local area. Plenty of parking on site.
